研究生期间的专业为水生生物学专业，研究方向为水生哺乳动物的保护生物学。既掌握了宏观生态学工作方法，又熟悉了分子生物学实验技术。此外还对动物解剖学和组织切片技术进行了研究。

做博后期间的专业为生态学，研究方向为鸟类行为生态学。以青藏高原鸟类为研究对象，重点探讨动物的合作繁殖行为和偷情行为的意义及进化。

目前在动物学研究所的研究方向包括鸟类学和行为生态学。仍然以高原鸟类作为研究对象，探讨鸟类亲子关系的发育、偷情行为对社会关系的影响，以及鸟类对高原极端环境的行为适应。

2020年主持国家自然科学基金面上项目，题目《合作行为在灰喜鹊向高原殖民进程中的表现及动态变化》，编号：32071491，起止时间2021/01-2024/12.

2018年主持西藏自治区重点研发及转化计划项目《西藏雉类种质资源保育基地建设和人工驯化前期研究》的子课题，课题名称《工布自然保护区雉类资源调查》，课题编号xz201801nb21；起止时间2018年6月——2019年12月.

2017年主持国家自然科学基金面上项目，题目《备选繁殖策略对灰喜鹊终身繁殖成功的影响》，编号：31772465，起止时间2018/01-2021/12.
